About

Navigating a STEMM career as a mother, or as anyone balancing caregiving, leadership, and aspirations, means encountering unique challenges, persistent biases, and invisible barriers. This panel will bring together women with lived experience to reimagine what meaningful career growth and professional leadership look like in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM).

The goal for IndiaBioscience with this event is to continue holding a collaborative space where the community, especially women in science, can discuss, challenge, and reshape dominant narratives about career progression, motherhood, and leadership in STEMM. Whether you are taking your first career steps post-parenthood, considering a professional pivot, or striving for leadership amidst systemic challenges, this is a conversation you can be a part of.

Why this panel matters

Women and mothers in STEMM often juggle rigorous career demands alongside caregiving, face systems that are not built for their realities, and encounter obstacles like burnout and imposter syndrome. Our discussion acknowledges these complexities, centering motherhood, career pivots, and the mental health dimensions that shape persistence and progression in science.
