Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Biotechnology Research Innovation Council (BRIC), an organization of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, invites applications from the Indian Nationals to join the Project Associate II position sanctioned under ANRF-funded (DST) project.

All the positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The decision of the Director regarding the selection of candidates will be final, and no further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

NCBS is looking to fill several new faculty positions. Candidates with 3 – 6 years of postdoctoral experience will be considered for an Assistant Professor position. Those with experience as tenured independent investigators will be considered for senior level appointments.

Research Priorities at CBM: The Rohini Nilekani Centre for Brain and Mind (RNP-CBM) is a scientific venture to understand mental illness by harnessing the power of sophisticated clinical investigations, human genetics/​genomics, and stem cell technology. RNP-CBM has assembled a discovery platform based on a cohort of individuals with a strong family history of mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, substance dependence and dementia). Specific resources available at RNP-CBM include clinical assessment data, structural and functional brain imaging, clinical electrophysiology along with genome sequence information and stem cell lines. Candidates will be expected to lead research programs which naturally develop from and enhance these resources.

Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an Institution of National Importance established through an Act of Indian Parliament by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India under the auspices of UNESCO. The primary focus of RCB is to provide world class education, training and conduct innovative research at the interface of multiple disciplines to create high quality human resource in disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas of biotechnology.

The Centre invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic, and result-oriented Indian scientists/​academicians who have proven scientific, academic and administrative experience, to fill up the posts of Dean on direct recruitment / deputation or contract basis. National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Project coordinator for a new northeast focused project on potential zoonoses and pathogen discovery. Genomics-based Discovery of (Potential) Pathogens for India’s North-Eastern Region (GDP-FINER), funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, involves ten institutions, and is coordinated by NCBS-TIFR.

The proposed study is extremely relevant to understanding health vulnerability to emerging infectious diseases in India, and the Northeastern region in particular. Data generated here will help us understand which potentially pathogenic clades have high prevalence locally, as well as those that are common across the three states. Multiple years of data will also provide insights on how the prevalence of potentially pathogenic clades varies in time. Simultaneously, assessments of human – wildlife-livestock reservoir interactions across states will help identify contact hotspots, and understand behaviours and factors that can lead to increased risk. Such information will be critical to quick and pre-emptive responses to possible spillover.
