Maitrayee is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Calcutta and her research interests are symbiotic nitrogen fixation and plant receptor kinases. She has established a vibrant research program, training more than 17 PhD students and postdocs, been recognized by multiple agencies, and is a fellow of all three National Academies of Sciences in India.
